TRYLax Mission & Values
The mission of TRYLax is to provide K-8th grade boys and girls in the Tantasqua school district, of all skill levels and abilities, the opportunity to learn, play and love the sport of lacrosse. Through the dedication of volunteer board members and coaches, TRYLax will bring players together to work hard, compete, have fun, build confidence and experience the joy and benefits of being part of a team.
First and foremost, sports are meant to be fun. TRYLax is a recreational league with players that have varying levels of skill and desire. Some kids want to meet friends, some play to win. TRYLax strives to strike a balance between fun and competition and leave our players with a feeling of joy that makes them want to come back over and over again.
TRYLax believes that athletics are an opportunity to also build intangible skills that go beyond how to hold a stick and score a goal. The following core values will guide TRYLax players and coaches in efforts on and off the field. These core values can benefit players now and in their future endeavors. Our core values go beyond lacrosse.
Effort – We play smart with our heads and give it our all with our hearts. Each day we try our best to become better players and teammates. Whether I am a new or experienced player, I can always work hard and learn something new.
Leadership – Leaders are everywhere. From the newest players to the veterans – leadership is in everyone. Leadership is not about having the most skill or the most goals – it’s about learning from my failures and having a positive mindset. Leadership is about always wanting to learn and encouraging my teammates to want to do the same. Leadership is a can-do attitude that is contagious and inspires my teammates to be their best.
Teamwork – We win as a team and we lose as a team. We value the strength and benefits of learning together. We value team success and trust our teammates over selfish, individualized play. At the end of the day – we lift our teammates up and support them.
Sportsmanship – We play fair. We win with humility and we lose with grace. We have high regard for coaches, teammates, referees, opponents and fans. We treat others how we want to be treated. We represent our towns, schools and families in a way that would make them proud.
